La Tonnellerie – Chateuneuf sur Charente

La Tonnellerie is a great restaurant run by a British family, which as a starter for ten is not always a great recommendation.  That said, to open a Brit run restaurant in France takes some guts and must indicate confidence in the kitchen. The French view of British cooking is well known, however, this does not deter the French from eating regularly here and that alone speaks volumes.

We have eaten here a number of times now, mostly for lunches, and have never been disappointed. The food here is a cut above the standard fare on offer at most French restaurants in the area. It is a credit to the chef here that he takes great care in produce selection and also offers great presentation. This comes across very clearly from the starter through to the dessert course.

Make a booking here, you will be warmly welcomed and you will leave very happy indeed. Only issue I have at all is you have to pay by cheque (French account only) or cash. They do not accept payments by any cards as yet. www.restaurantlatonnellerie.com
